NarrowBoats
The Club has two narrowboats that it uses to run trips for youth, community education and welfare groups from around Hackney and beyond.
Each trip is accompanied by an experienced skipper. Everyone is encouraged to help steer the boat and operate the locks.
All trips start and finish at the Club. During a half-day trip the boat heads towards Victoria Park, and on a full day either westwards towards Camden Town, or eastwards towards the River Lea.
Our usual bookings times are:
10am – 1pm or
1pm – 4pm or
10am – 4pm
(during the winter months or when there are no other bookings there may be some flexibility for bookings outside of these times).
Numbers
Each boat can take a maximum of 12 passengers (no matter what age). The Lady Mildmay is wheelchair accessible.
Availability
Our boats need to be booked in advance and are not available for private hire during the school holidays. There is more availability during winter months and Sunday afternoons (when there are no other activities at the Club).
Facilities
Both boats have a cabin and an open foredeck.
There are seats, a small chemical toilet and a galley with a kettle where you can make hot water.
Families
As well as private hire we run a Family Club 10.30am – 12.30pm every Sunday during school term-time where local families can take a narrowboat trip or go canoeing for £5 per person. This needs to be booked in advance and you can book up to five spaces at any one time.
